Cookies

Cookies, and how to turn them off.

Short version: this site sets no advertising cookies, sells nothing to anybody, and counts visits only so we know whether the campaign is reaching people. One button in the bottom corner switches that off.

Turn off visit counting

Use the round button in the bottom-right corner of any page, marked Cookies and visit counting. Pressing it stops the counting immediately, deletes the cookies already set, and is remembered on this device for two years. You do not have to give a reason and nothing else about the site changes.

What is actually set

CookieWhat it is forHow long
_ga, _ga_… Google Analytics. Counts visits and which pages are read, so we can tell whether the campaign is reaching anyone. Not linked to advertising and not used to build a profile of you. 2 years
analytics_optout Set only if you press the opt-out button. It is how the site remembers not to count you. Without it we would have to ask again on every page. 2 years

That is the complete list. There are no advertising cookies, no remarketing tags, no Meta or LinkedIn pixels, and nothing that follows you to other websites.

Things that load only if you ask

  • YouTube videos on the view are shown as a still image until you press play. Nothing is requested from Google until you do. When you do, they load from youtube-nocookie.com and YouTube's own terms and cookies then apply.
  • Page translation. The accessibility button offers translation into fourteen languages, which is provided by Google Translate. It is not loaded until you choose a language from that menu.
  • Accessibility settings you choose — larger text, higher contrast and so on — are stored on your own device and never sent anywhere.

Why there is no cookie banner

Because since 5 February 2026 there does not have to be one, and we think the banners are mostly theatre anyway.

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 changed the rules. First-party analytics used only to improve your own service no longer needs consent in the UK. What it needs instead is two things: clear information about what is happening, which is this page, and a simple, free way to object, which is the button in the corner. A banner that nags every visitor into clicking "accept" delivers neither.

The exemption comes with conditions and we hold ourselves to them. Our analytics is configured for counting only, with Google's advertising features, Google Signals and user identification switched off, and no advertising or remarketing tag anywhere on the site. If that ever changed, this site would need a consent banner and this page would say so.

Your browser can do it too

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and many block third-party ones by default. Doing so will not break anything here — the campaign's own signature form does not rely on cookies at all.
